As per NCHMCT, The Tourism Industry is growing at a rapid pace with a growth of 10% over the last year. During the 12th five-year plan, a 12% growth has been projected. This growth would result in an additional employment generation of 2.5 crores and there would a requirement of 36 lakh trained manpower for the hospitality sector at various levels by 2016.
1. National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology – Joint Entrance Exam (NCHMCT-JEE)
It is the main entrance exam for Hotel Management conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology for admission into 21 Institutes of Hotel Management run by the Central Government. It also covers about 12 State Government Institutes and 20 privately run institutes. All these colleges accept the JEE score. The exam notification comes out in December and the exam is held in April every year.
JEE Exam Pattern:
- English : 60 Marks
- Service Aptitude : 50 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude : 30 Marks
- Logical Reasoning : 30 Marks
- Current Affair : 30 Marks
2. Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET)
You have to write the common Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) for entry into Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal University. This is an online test which includes case studies from the hotel industry. You can choose your test dates from five dates across April & May.
